Join Larchmont native Betsy Bradley for a four-part exploration of the history and legacy of slavery in the Northern states, from the days of their founding to the Emancipation Proclamation and beyond.

Using a new, award-winning interactive tool she produced for Historic Hudson Valley, Betsy will take us on a journey through the development of American slavery, including the definition and practice of enslavement all over the Northern colonies, how the enslaved resisted their inhumane treatment and pursued justice, and how slavery continues to impact many aspects of American life at the present day.

This program will feature special guest speakers, including Ned Benton, co-director of the New York Slavery Records Index at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
