Thank you for your interest in teaching at The Center for Continuing Education.
We’re always looking for great teachers–teachers who make learning stimulating, fun, and social. Our students want to engage in the subject matter and with their fellow students, so your ability to facilitate those connections is important. Teaching here isn’t about being a world-famous expert on a topic–it’s about being excited to help people learn the things you’re already excited about
Classes are generally 90-120 minutes long, but we’re flexible, and we usually ask first-time teachers to try a one-week class before jumping into something longer.Teaching experience is extremely helpful, though not required. It’s more important that you are organized and flexible.
Our Spring Term runs from March to early June and the Fall Term runs from October to mid-December. We offer both evening and daytime classes. Depending on the topic, they can be one session long or last for multiple weeks. The Center promotes its course offerings through regular e-newsletters, on-line, and by distributing over 30,000 catalogs at the start of each term.
Take a look at our current offerings and then send us your proposal. It should include the following:
Suggested course title and description in 80 words or less. Don’t be afraid to be creative and have some fun. You’re probably passionate about your subject, so let it shine through. How often would it meet? For how many hours per session?
A brief resume including your degrees, and/or relevant information about your background, business, or skills that indicates why you are qualified to teach the course.
Any materials necessary to run the class; computer, DVD player, LCD projector, etc.
Any material your students would need to participate in the class.
Email your proposal to firstname.lastname@example.org. We review all proposals and will notify you if your course is selected. If you have any questions, please call the office at 914-220-3071.
