Computer Classes Dell desktop personal computers are used in classes held in room 107. Each student will have his/her own computer with Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003. Macintosh computers are used in classes held in room 149. Students are responsible for knowing software requirements. Purchase of textbook is required in some classes. The instructors are very experienced and have been teaching for the Center for many years. |
| PC for the Novice Part I - Day | Irena Zujko |
| Get a solid introduction to the PC in a relaxed environment. Cover the major hardware and software components and their functions. Learn to operate the mouse and keyboard, navigate the desktop, manipulate Windows, and use a simple text editor. Leave ready to tackle more advanced applications such as the internet, e-mail, and word processing. No previous computer experience is required.

| If you've taken PC for the Novice Part I or have had basic exposure to the PC, you're ready to learn more about the functions and capabilities of your computer. This class will focus on the software (Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel) and the Windows XP operating system. Learn basic word processing and how to create spreadsheets. You will create, save and access your files as well as create and organize your folders. Make sense of menus, icons, and your computer's settings. We will cover how to install and run programs, keep your PC secure and running smoothly and introduce the internet and e-mail. Prerequisite: PC for the Novice Part I or basic PC knowledge with the ability to use the mouse and keyboard.

| Microsoft Excel: Beginner - Day | Irena Zujko |
| This program will rescue your numbers from chaos. Organize your finances, budgets, and personal records in Excel, the most widely used spreadsheet program. This course will include an overview of spreadsheet design, formula construction, and text and number formatting, including AutoFormat and conditional formatting. You will produce spreadsheets, learn to manipulate worksheets using formulas, and illustrate your data in charts and graphs. Finally you will learn how to email the active workbook from within Excel. Prerequisite: working knowledge of the PC and the Windows environment.

| Microsoft Excel: Power User | Pamela Nathe |
| This is an Intermediate/Advanced class, designed for students who have taken the Beginner class or have some experience using Excel. We値l explore data analysis, pivot tables, running and modifying macros, linking cells in multiple Excel workbooks, customize toolbars, and export data to Word and PowerPoint. You will learn to outline and consolidate worksheets and analyze data using the Scenario Manager. We'll discuss key strategies for using Excel more effectively to make data reporting and analysis faster and easier. Limited to 12 students. Students will need to bring a flash drive to class to save their personal files. Prerequisite: completion of the Beginner Excel class or equivalent experience and a working knowledge of the PC and the Windows environment.

| Microsoft痴 multi-use program is designed to create professional presentations and personal slide shows. It can improve every aspect of your business presentation and has become the industry standard for the creation of overheads and slides and the production of hand-outs. Use it to create impressive slideshows using photographs, music, text and art work. Email these personal slideshows to family and friends, allowing them to view your creations on their home computers. Prerequisite: working knowledge of the PC and the Windows environment. | Photo Management and Scanning Pictures to the Computer | Irena Zujko |
| Having pictures on your computer is great, but organizing them can be daunting. We値l cover how to get pictures on the computer (transferring them from a digital camera) and also how to scan them. Once they池e on the computer, you値l learn how to crop, rotate and flip, move, resize, compress and save edited pictures. Finally you値l create a digital photo album for easier sending and viewing of your precious photos. Prerequisite: working knowledge of the PC and the Windows environment. Bring your digital camera, USB cord, and some photographs for scanning.

| Managing and organizing files on your Mac computer is essential to secure and efficient work. Creating folders to organize your documents, photos and audio/video files is easier than you think, but takes some practice. You値l learn to customize your keyboard shortcuts, dock and desktop, view files in multiple ways, easily locate files, create multiple users for one computer, mouse shortcuts, and how to use energy saver settings. This course is offered in the Mac classroom which is equipped with 12 new wide-screen (24") iMacs. However, to work on your own files, students are encouraged to bring their own Mac laptops or body of desktops. The computer lab will supply mouse and keyboard.

| iPhoto is an easy to use, intuitive way to organize and touch up photos, as well as to e-mail and order prints of your favorite pictures. Hands-on experience will give you an opportunity to import photos and learn how to touch them up to improve color, brightness, contrast, cropping, straightening, and sharpening. Create special effects, such as converting to black and white, placing a vignette around a photo, creating sepia tones, etc. Learn to e-mail and order prints, as well as advanced features to produce albums, picture books, greeting cards, and calendars. Bring your fully charged digital camera, with photos inside, and all cables to class. This course is offered in the Mac classroom which is equipped with 12 new wide-screen (24") iMacs. To work on pictures downloaded to your own computer, students are encouraged to bring their own Mac laptops or body of desktops. The computer lab will supply mouse and keyboard.
